Ukrainian President appoints former NBU head Kubiv as his representative in parliament

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has appointed MP Stepan Kubiv (Bloc of Petro Poroshenko faction) as the Presidential Representative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

"The head of state has signed a decree on appointing Stepan Kubiv as the new Presidential Representative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," the president's press service reported. The decree has been posted on the president's website.

With another decree, Poroshenko dismissed MP Ruslan Kniazevych, who had been elected to parliament on the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko party's list, from the same post.

During a meeting with Kubiv, Poroshenko said he was sure that the former Head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) would rise to the challenges that the country was facing, and that he would ensure efficient cooperation between the president, the Verkhovna Rada, the coalition and the government.

"I'm sure that active legislative work and an active public position regarding representing the president are your strong qualities," the president said.

Kubiv noted that he understood the tasks he faced in his new position. "We'll actively introduce the policies of the president, the Verkhovna Rada and the government. We are one, and efficient work must [begin] as soon as possible," he said.

In addition, Poroshenko thanked Kniazevych for his productive work in the same position.

Kubiv headed the NBU from February to June 2014. Kniazevych worked as the Presidential Representative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine since June 2014.
