Cabinet approves 2014 gas balance, 14.9 bcm from Russia, 5 bcm from Europe

Ukraine in 2014 plans to import 19.899 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 28.9% less than in 2013 (27.974 billion cubic meters).

The forecast for gas supply and distribution for 2014 was approved by cabinet resolution No. 1211-r of November 26, 2014, and posted on the government's website on Wednesday, December 17.

According to the forecast, gas supplies from Russia's OJSC Gazprom will total 14.866 billion cubic meters this year, and from EU countries – 4.966 billion cubic meters. Dmytro Firtash's Ostchem will also import 67 million cubic meters from Russia.

In 2013, Gazprom delivered 12.921 billion cubic meters of gas to the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy, Ostchem imported 12.922 billion cubic meters, while 2.132 billion cubic meters was imported from Europe.

In 2014, Ukraine will require 53.033 billion cubic meters of natural gas, including 20.495 billion cubic meters of Ukrainian-produced gas, and 19.899 billion cubic meters of imported gas. 12.357 billion cubic meters will be pumped from underground storage facilities and 279 million cubic meters will come from pipelines, while the balancing gas volume of OJSC Gazprom will be 3 million cubic meters.

According to the forecast, Ukrgazvydobuvannia plans to extract 15.111 billion cubic meters of gas in 2014, Ukrnafta – 1.756 billion cubic meters, Chornomornaftogaz – 340 million cubic meters, and other gas extractors – 3.288 billion cubic meters.
