Coal transportation in ATO area resumed – Ukrzaliznytsia

Coal transportation in the ATO area has been resumed, acting head of Ukrzaliznytsia Maksym Blank wrote on his Facebook page.

According to Blank, after the new government had been formed, the continuing lack of coal in the country was apparent amongst other acute problems the government faced. What is more, it has been repeatedly stated that Ukrzaliznytsia does not give wagons, locomotives, etc.

"Ukrzaliznytsia will definitely provide wagons and diesel fuel for resolving the critical problems of the country. But the issue of coal transportation in the eastern region is not only the matter of providing wagons and locomotives," the official said.

According to him, the transportation sector also requires a speedy restoration of damaged infrastructure, the removal of mines, the creation of coordinated "fire" corridors, coordination of movement with "captured Donetsk Railways," special customs procedures, and the priority of certain transportation.

"In other words this is coordination at the level of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Defense, the Fiscal Service, etc. Ukrzaliznytsia's infrastructure and traffic services have been transferred to administrative operations. The staff is headed by one of the most authoritative experts - director for infrastructure Volodymyr Tiahulsky. Coal has been transported. The further possible coal handling, first of all, will depend on the ability to solve the above mentioned problems. Ukrzaliznytsia will not fail," Blank wrote.
