Wizz Air Ukraine, the only Ukrainian low-cost air carrier, is deeply concerned about the new order of issuing and revoking permits for operating air routes, approved by the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.

According to the company, the document contains a number of provisions that show a significant step backwards in the development of the aviation market of Ukraine.

"The new procedure of issuing rights to operate air flights will reduce the number of available routes and the number of air carriers between which passenger can choose, which, in turn, will lead to a rise in ticket prices. These changes will have a negative impact on the people of Ukraine," reads a statement.

The airline noted that the decrease in passenger traffic would affect the development of tourism in Ukraine and the Ukrainian economy as a whole.

"Finally, the new order is contrary to the liberalization of the Ukrainian aviation market and the desire to meet the standards of the European Union. Therefore Wizz Air Ukraine hopes that these rules will be revised and adjusted to take into account the interests of all players on the aviation market of Ukraine," the airline said.

As reported, according to the above mentioned new order, exclusively the State Aviation Service of Ukraine will provide air carriers with the right to operate air flights.
