OTP Bank posts UAH 1.3 bln loss in Jan-Sept

The loss of OTP Bank (Kyiv) came to UAH 1.311 billion in January-September 2014, while year-over-year its profit stood at UAH 96.333 million, according to a quarterly report of the bank.

The bank said that its loss in the third quarter of 2014 totaled UAH 315.816 million (loss of UAH 648.447 million in Q1, 2014 and loss of UAH 316.864 million in Q2, 2014), while year-over-year its profit amounted to UAH 84.557 million.

Net interest-bearing income over the period grew by 26.6% year-over-year, to UAH 1.766 billion.

Total assets of the bank in January-September 2014 grew by 16.9%, to UAH 21.902 billion, including a rise of 9.5% in credits and debts of clients, to UAH 15.466 billion.

The reserves for overdue credits as of early October reached 28.4% of the sum of credits and debts of clients, while as of early 2014 they stood at 20.2%.

The bank's charter capital did not change, being UAH 2.868 billion, while net worth dropped by 38.3%, to UAH 2.071 billion.

OTP Bank was founded in 1998. Its sole shareholder is Hungary's OTP Bank Plc.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, on July 1, 2014 by total assets OTP Bank ranked 17th (UAH 21.142 billion) among the 173 banks operating in the country.
