Ukraine to hold talks on expansion of IMF's SBA, says premier
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk expects that the new government will be quickly formed after the parliamentary election, which will allow in November holding negotiations with the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMD) on the expansion of the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA). "We want to hold elections as quick as possible, form the new government and invite the IMF mission in November to adapt the IMF program to the present situation," the premier said in an interview with the Segondya newspaper published on Thursday. "We will need to increase the sum of aid," he added. He said that the SBA was drawn up in the peaceful times, and now it is being drawn up for the military operation when the counterterrorist operation is being conducted for over six months and when the country has billions of losses in Donbas. The premier did not specify the sum by which the SBA could be expanded. Yatseniuk said that Ukraine today is not able to pay for current supplies of Russian gas without funds from the IMF and EU if gas supplies are resumed.
