Ukraine imports record 27.6 mcm of gas from Slovakia

Ukraine imported a record 27.6 million cubic meters of gas from Slovakia on October 20, pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz told Interfax.

"The gas was supplied in accelerated mode. Everything is working reliably, there are no extraordinary situations," the company said.

Ukraine plans to import 27.4 million of cubic meters of gas from Slovakia on Tuesday. "We're lowering imports from Slovakia by 200,000 cubic meters today, but increasing them from Poland by the same volume in order to optimize the transport leg," the company said.

Ukraine continues to pump gas into underground storage, the company said.

The minimum guaranteed capacity of the Vojany-Uzhgorod pipeline, which is supplying gas to Ukraine from Europe, amounts to 6.4 billion cubic meters or 17.5 million cubic meters of gas a day. The design capacity of the pipeline is about 10 billion cubic meters a year or 27 million cubic meters a day.

The largest part of downstream transport capacity until 2019 at the Vojany-Uzhgorod pipeline was purchased by Ukraine's national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy.
