Loss of budget revenues from Donbas reach UAH 2 bln in Sept, to continue growing, says premier

The reduction in the planned tax payments from Luhansk and Donetsk regions in September reached UAH 2 billion, and in coming months the situation will worsen, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

"We've fallen short of UAH 2 billion from Donbas. There is a continuous trend of a decline in the payment of taxes," he said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The premier said that the trend has a time lag.

"If this month we actually collected revenues for August, in a month we expect that the volume of collected taxes from Donetsk and Luhansk regions will fall," he said.

He added that the situation with armed conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk regions has a negative impact on the general state of the Ukrainian economy. He said that Ukrzaliznytsia receives only 40% of revenues from Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"Bridges have been blown up, roads have been blown up. There are no revenues from shipments, and there are no payments to the budget. This means that there are no wages and no payments for electricity, and this simply kills the Ukrainian economy," he said, adding that the government is keeping the budget situation manageable.
