World Bank experts are to check the progress of the implementation of a project financed by the bank to improve roads and traffic safety in Ukraine on two sections of the M-03 Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhansky highway.

According to the press service of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor), during the current week international experts, accompanied by Ukravtodor workers, are to assess the quality of the work done within the framework of the project, which is now coming to an end, on the section from Boryspil to Lubny. This site will soon be put into operation. The experts should also assess the progress of work under the second project launched last year – on the Lubny-Poltava section.

The representatives of the foreign delegation plan during the mission to meet with the leadership of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine and Ukravtodor to discuss problematic issues of the road industry and outline prospects for future cooperation.

As reported, at present two projects are being realized to improve roads and traffic safety using funds from the World Bank loan. The first project is worth $400 million (the reconstruction of about 120 km of the road from Boryspil to Lubny). The second project of $450 million foresees repairs to a stretch of road from Lubny to Poltava (about 108 km).
