Ukrainian insurers in H1 cut reinsurance in Russia by 41.9%

Ukrainian insurers in January-June 2014 reinsured risks in Russia in the amount of UAH 157 million, which is 41.9% less than in the same period in 2013 (UAH 270.2 million), according to the Web site of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Financial Services Markets.

According to the commission, Russia's share in the total volume of reinsurance at non-residents for the six months fell to 22.1% from 32.9%.

The regulator notes that in Germany the amount of reinsurance increased by 9.2%, to UAH 172.7 million, and the share of this country in the total volume of the Ukrainian reinsurance market at non-residents increased from 19.2% (in the first half of 2013) to 24.3%.

According to the commission, for the period the amount of reinsurance in Britain rose by 7%, to UAH 111.1 million (the share is 15.6%), in Switzerland decreased by 17.9%, to UAH 87.6 million.

In general, Ukrainian insurers reinsure risks in 13 countries, in particular in Austria (6.6%), France (3.7%), the United States (2.2%), and the Czech Republic (2.1%).

In addition, the regulator said that insurance claim payments made by resident reinsurers in the first half of 2014 decreased by 19.6%, to UAH 41.1 million, non-residents - rose by 5.5%, to UAH 197 million.
