MPs propose introducing minimum term of farmland rent in Ukraine for seven years, simplify signing of contracts

The term of agricultural land rent in Ukraine must be at least seven years to encourage the preservation of soil fertility.

This norm is contained in bill No. 4493a dated August 13 on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning the improvement of legal regulation of land rent, which was authored by MPs Volodymyr Pylypenko and Oleh Kulynych (both from the Economic Development group).

The document also foresees a number of measures to facilitate the turnover of leased farmland: reducing the number of obligatory conditions for signing contracts on farmland rent, and the openness of data about land users on the cadastral map.

According to a press release from the Ukrainian Agrarian Association, which was the co-author of the draft law, the document takes into account the comments of deputies to a similar bill, registered in autumn 2013 (No. 3316): in particular, payment for farmland rent is offered not only in monetary but payment in kind.
