Japanese businessmen headed by finance minister in August will study cooperation with Ukraine - Klimkin

The Japan Minister of Economy accompanied by a group of businessmen will visit Ukraine in a few weeks, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said.

"A delegation headed by the minister of economy of Japan accompanied by a large number of businessmen will come to us in the near future. This will occur in the beginning of August," Klimkin told reporters after talks with the foreign minister of Japan.

The minister said that Ukraine and Japan would study the possibility for more effective economic cooperation.

"We believe that our potential has not been exhausted," said Klimkin.

In addition, he said that the matter also concerns aid from Japan for a total of $1.5 billion. According to Ukraine's foreign minister, before the negotiations an agreement was signed between the governments of Ukraine and Japan on the issue of a loan of $100 million for economic development.

The minister also said that the sides are working on a visit of Japan's prime minister to Ukraine and expressed hope that it would be held in the near future.

"Thus, we have a unique bilateral dynamics [in relations]," said Klimkin.
