Grain exports from Ukraine since the start of the current agricultural year (July 2012 – June 2013) as of June 1, 2013 came to 21.86 million tonnes, which is 9.4% up year-over-year, the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry has reported.

The ministry said that wheat exports came to almost 6.7 million tonnes, compared to 4.84 million tonnes year-over-year, corn exports stood at 12.73 million tonnes, compared to 12.56 million tonnes, and barley exports totaled 2.1 million tonnes, compared to 2.4 million tonnes.

In May, Ukraine supplied 956,400 tonnes of grain to foreign markets, including 728,600 tonnes of corn and 156,000 tonnes of wheat.

As reported, at the beginning of the current season grain traders and the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine determined the conditions of the state's possible introduction of restrictions on grain exports and the maximum possible amount of major crop exports. This figure for wheat had been revised several times, and now stands at 6.6 million tonnes.

In April, the ministry agreed with grain traders on the unlimited export of wheat from Ukraine until the end of the agricultural year.

In the 2011/12 agricultural year Ukraine supplied almost 22 million tonnes of grain to foreign markets.
