Arbuzov says he wants to regularly meet with foreign ambassadors to protect investors

Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov has said he plans to hold regular meetings with foreign ambassadors in order to prevent the violation of the property rights of investors.

"Given the special attention that is being paid to the improvement of the investment climate in the state economic development stimulation program for 2013-2014, the protection of the property of foreign companies will be guaranteed," Arbuzov's press office quoted him as saying.

According to the statement, during meetings with the ambassadors, joint efforts will be made to respond to complaints from foreign ambassadors regarding the cases of the seizure of their compatriots' enterprises by raiders.

"The first meetings are scheduled for this month with the ambassadors of the EU countries... Such cooperation will help improve the investment climate and attract foreign businesses in Ukraine," reads the statement.

In addition, according to the first vice-premier, the resumption and intensification of the work of the interdepartmental commission on protecting investors' rights and combating illegal acquisitions and takeovers will help prevent cases of the seizure of foreign enterprises.

The government approved the decision to resume the work of the commission, which is headed by Arbuzov.

"The general status of this body was significantly increased. Now the leadership of the commission includes top officials from ministries and departments, rather than their deputies, as before. This will help contribute to the more rapid and effective activity of this body," reads the statement.
