Swissport Ukraine handling company, following its acquisition by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv), has been renamed Interavia (its former name) at the request of Swiss-based Swissport International.

Head of the UIA supervisory council Aron Mayberg said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday that after the Ukrainian company's purchasing Swissport Ukraine, Swissport asked that it no longer use its brand.

"UIA has serious plans for the development of the company and we intend to develop a long-term strategy for its development for at least three or five years," he said.

Mayberg also stressed that UIA plans to involve independent directors to the management of the company.

UIA President Yuriy Miroshnykov, in turn, said that UIA, as the owner of Swissport Ukraine, is interested in preserving the enterprise, improving the quality of its work and will do everything possible so that the company could continue working on the Ukrainian market.
